Duck of the Day is the most pleasant Twitter account around-

Your prayers to see a beautiful duck every day have finally been answered.

Twitter, which is generally bad, also houses some of the finest pockets of pleasantness on the internet. We're talking good dogs, positive self-care reminders, and lovely vintage fruit watercolors -- nice ways to break up your screaming hell-feed.

Follow too many of these accounts, though, and your feed becomes a bit overloaded. We all love a nice plant photo, but if you're still on Twitter in 2018, chances are you need (or... want?) to see all the demoralizing tweets about obstruction of justice, too.

The solution is Duck of the Day. A perfect Twitter account, Duck of the Day serves up an enjoyable image of a duck each day around the same time. The ducks hail from the University of York in England, and have been gracing feeds around the world since 2009. (There's also an official Duck of the Day website.)

On the weekends, other waterfowl get their moment in the spotlight -- including (but certainly not limited to) geese, swans, and the occasional heron.

Duck of the Day's tweets follow a very specific format: duck photo + date. (Weekend waterfowl are labeled "weekend waterfowl.") There are no jokes. No deviations from the duck-a-day premise. There aren't even any captions, or words at all for that matter. There are just birds, delivered regularly -- but not so regularly as to clog your feed.

It's perfect.

Like similarly wholesome accounts (Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary comes to mind), the comments on Duck of the Day are extremely earnest and a real pleasure to read. While there are obviouslytrolls out there all the time -- this is Twitter, after all -- Duck of the Day is a real oasis of sincerity.

Here, for example, is the set of replies to a tweet from Feb. 8, which featured a particularly zoomy duck specimen.

The account also has the advantage of being popular, but not too popular, which helps keeps the atmosphere enjoyable. It's currently sitting at just under 30,000 followers, and each tweet gets a few hundred likes.

Where it really delivers is consistency and quality -- just what you and I have always wanted from our waterfowl imagery.
