PRE-ORDER NOW:Sonos has introduced their first pair of headphones, the Sonos Ace, which are available for preorder as of May 21. The headphones cost $449 and will ship as soon as June 5.
Sonos is breaking away from speakers — kind of. They're bringing their signature sound closer with the Sonos Ace headphones. While we had yet to test the Aces at the original publish time, we were intrigued by the promises made by the brand. We've since tested the headphones and are impressed.
As reported by Mashable senior editor Stan Schroeder, Sonos is using proprietary 40-millimeter dynamic drivers for sound. There's an included microphone for taking calls and the headphones support active noise cancellation. Sonos loyalists will especially reap the benefits. With the touch of a button, you can swap the audio from a Sonos Arc soundbar and transfer it to the Ace headphones.
In addition to active noise cancellation, the Sonos Ace headphones have aware mode, letting users experience their surroundings with the click of a button. Plus according to Sonos, the headphones have a 30-hour battery life with ANC on and with fast charging, you can get three hours of listening from just three minutes of charging. We got our hands on the headphones to test out these features, and were excited to see if they lived up to their proposed hype.
