Apple's association with (RED), a nonprofit that has generated over $750 million for The Global Fund to help fight injustice in global health issues, continues. The tech giant has worked with (RED) since 2006, launching appropriately bright red products, with a portion of profits going to fund health programs, antiretroviral treatment, and HIV testing, critical in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
This time around, to mark World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, Apple is promoting a red version of the Apple Watch Series 9, through a limited red case and sport band, along with some new red Watch faces. Red is the global symbol of support and awareness for people living with HIV.
SEE ALSO: Apple Watch Series 9 review: Upgrade for this key feature (no, it's not Double Tap)Apple's red Watch joins a line of (PRODUCT)RED items, including the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone SE, and a slew of accessories in the unmistakable color. Existing Watch faces, like Solar Analog, Metropolitan, and Palette, have also been released in red and are available to download for free on Apple Watch Series 4 products or later.
In addition, Apple and (RED) are donating all proceeds from select in-app purchases for three games via the Apple Store: MONOPOLY GO!, Gardenscapes, and EA Sports FC Mobile. These include "playful avatars, cool shields, and star soccer players", as announced in a blog post by Apple. The purchases will count towards donations from today until Dec. 4.
Apple will also donate $1 for every purchase made using Apple Pay on their website, the App Store, or at an Apple Store location, from now until Dec. 8.
You can check out Apple's collection on the website.
