Another year, another slew of weird but lowkey kind of fun internet challenges.
The #InMyFeelingsChallenge was the big star this year, but there were plenty of smaller challenges that made waves in 2018. Some were delightful and some were literally toxic (yes, the whole Tide Pod thing was this year), but they all made their impact nonetheless.

Drake's album Scorpionreceived a bit of a lukewarm response, but that didn't stop it from spawning a meme. The album had only been out for a week when people -- starting with online comedian Shiggy -- started posting videos of themselves dancing to "In My Feelings." Did the challenge go on too long? Probably. Will you think of it every time you hear "Keke, do you love me?" Absolutely.

The Dele Alli challenge briefly stole Drake's thunder in August, when soccer player Dele Alli of the Tottenham Hotspurs did a hand gesture during a game that proved surprisingly difficult to imitate. Some participants fared better than others, but one thing's for sure: It is embarrassing to try this at your desk in front of all your coworkers.

For this very wholesome challenge, pet owners held up a blanket in front of themselves, then dropped it and ran away. Their befuddled pets didn't know how their owners had disappeared so fast, and we didn't know how we ever lived without this perfect video genre. 10/10.

Some pranks are mildly funny and some pranks elicit moderate to severe existential crises. This prank, based on a scene from Magic for Humans,is definitely one of the latter.
First, teens were eating Tide Pods. Then, teens weren't actually eating Tide Pods. Then, Gronk told teens not to eat the Tide Pods they weren't actually eating. It was a whole thing! And, yes, it all happened this year. Time is a flat circle.

The M'Baku Challenge proved that a simple concept can still pack a punch. To do this challenge, people only needed to imitate the dialogue from Winston Duke's introductory scene in Black Panther, but it ended up being one of the best internet moments of the year. This was partially because Black Pantherrules, but also because kids are cute. Two truths!

It was a big year for Black Panther memes. This one came to life when actress Kendra "K.O" Oyesanya posted a video of herself and some fellow dancers dancing to Distruction Boyz's "Omunye" post-screening. After the video went viral, other crews tried to imitate, but none of them were quite as awe-inspiring.

A challenge where people try to imitate Beyoncé's dance moves -- her dance moves in "APESHIT," no less! -- was bound to be hilarious. No one can imitate Beyoncé. These tweets do make us want to watch the music video on loop for the rest of time, though.

The internet is nothing if not obsessed with nostalgia. Case in point: this challenge, which is based on an iconic scene from the 1996 movie Matilda. Luckily, though, the whole thing became less annoying and more wholesome when Mara Wilson, Matilda herself, noticed and loved the participation.

All other challenges, step aside. Nothing is better than the challenge where people just tossed cheese onto their dogs and waited to see what happened. The simplicity! The genius! The dogs!
